Traditional Catholic News

Update:

November 2006

The news out of Rome is encouraging concerning the possible liberation of the Traditional Mass and sacraments.  In our Winter newsletter there is more information on the possible freeing of the Mass.  Meanwhile, let us all pray for this intention and continue to pray for Our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI. He needs our prayers.  Also, pray for his upcoming trip to Turkey at the end of this month.

April 2006

Nothing has really been made public yet concerning the Holy Father's meeting with some of the Curia officials on March 23rd.  We do believe this has something to do with the proposed reconciliation with the SSPX.  Please continue to pray for this and any other developments concerning the Tridentine Mass.

We still need your recipes for the cookbook.  Please place them in the container at the back of the church or send them to Una Voce of Northeast Florida.

Happy New Year from Una Voce of Northeast Florida

We are starting a new fundraiser next month by making a cookbook.  If you have a recipe that you would like to submit to the cookbook, there will be a box available at the back of the church.  Also, please continue to pray for the Garcia family during this difficult time.

The fundraiser was a success.  The computer went to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cleavland, Ohio.  Thank you for everyone who participated.

Every third Sunday, Una Voce of Northeast Florida holds its meeting downstairs at Immaculate Conception Church after the 8 am Mass.  After the meeting, the "Know Your Mass" class will also be held.

Every Second Sunday, the Rosary is recited in Latin before the 8 am Mass.

Una Voce Meeting

September 18, 2005

The Fund for the Katrina Victims did very well at our parish.  The church collected around $16,000.  Mike Frederico said that Father Leon was pleased with the amount.  We should also offer special prayers every day in a novena for all the victims of the Hurricanes as well as the Mudslides victims in Latin America and the Earthquake victims in Pakistan, Afganistan, and India.

Andrew Garcia was back in the hospital for continued treatment and everyone was asked to pray for his complete recovery.  It was also suggested that we have masses said for him and his family.  Everyone agreed.  Gerry Lawson stated that Mollie and her family are really being tested now so they really need our prayers.

Mollie's husband Ed said that the 501-C3 for Una Voce had been approved by the State.  donors can now make contributions and receive a legal deduction.

Mike Frederico has been developing training aids to use to educate fellow Catholics regarding the Latin Mass.  He is seeking Father Leon's permission to start announcing from the pulpit before Mass.  We will also be distributing educations materials in the back of the church before and after Mass.

We are starting to see new faces at Mass every week, so  there is a great need to keep everyone informed.  Mike also suggested that we develop brochures on confession and other important disciplines that we follow.

We have several new members at Una Voce and we will hold a membership drive in the next couple of months.  We will need everyone to help out in soliciting new members.

We talked briefly about our next fundraiser and decided to put it off until after the next meeting.  Next meeting will be held on October 16, 2005.  The table we are setting up on every 3rd Sunday is getting alot of attention.  Lots of people stop by and pick up brochures and buy missals and pamphlets.  We sold 3 missals last week.  Please remember that everyone should take a turn at running the table.  We have had several requests for mantillas and we are trying to find a source to buy some.  One lady suggested that everyone make some and bring them in so that we can distribute them to the other women and girls for just a contribution.
